The Nuclear division has operated for over 45 years in the transport, storage, and disposal of radioactive sources and waste. Utilizing extensive authorized storage facilities, waste can be managed throughout its entire lifecycle in compliance with cutting-edge regulations and technical procedures.
Protex Italia’s Nuclear division operates nationwide and beyond, employing proprietary vehicles and equipment alongside highly qualified operators. The radioactive material management process is completed by the 'A. Corberi' Physics and Radiochemistry Laboratory, which performs characterizations of any radionuclide across any type of matrix.
In addition to these activities, we provide decommissioning services—for nuclear power plants as well as industrial and research centers—radiological emergency management, and specialized interventions involving NORM/TENORM materials.
Through collaborations with international private companies and backed by specific accreditations, certifications, and authorizations, Protex Italia is capable of managing every aspect of the radioactive sector.

Through collaborations with European and international partners, we carry out activities abroad in the radioactive field: consultancy for the management of NORM and TENORM materials, high-activity sources, radioactive waste treatment, and radiometric characterizations on environmental and nuclear matrices.
Nuclear power plant decommissioning
Support for decommissioning activities of nuclear plants, with management and removal of contaminated materials. Securing of areas at radiological risk, with environmental and radiometric monitoring, traceability, and correct classification of radioactive waste.
Storage facilities
Protex Italia has three authorized facilities for the temporary storage of radioactive waste, designed to guarantee radiological safety, contamination containment, complete package traceability, and full regulatory compliance, ensuring controlled management during reception, handling, and custody.

To this end, we have developed practical operational tools, such as the Radiation Protection Specialist’s Diary and the Protex Italia App. These tools aggregate technical data related to the radioactive world: information on key radionuclides, legal limit tables, physical references, and other essential content for radiation protection purposes.
